NORTHERN LAO FOREST TEA: FEASIBILITY & DESIGN STUDY

Recruitment of Study Manager (CONSULTANT).

An exciting opportunity now exists for motivated individuals to assess the potential of northern Lao’s forest tea resources to contribute to national development goals through the development of the tea industry. In partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture (NAFRI and NAFES) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, CARE International in the Lao PDR will undertake a one year feasibility and design study for northern Lao Forest tea. The study, to be undertaken through a range of directly implemented and sub-contracted research tasks will seek to:

a) Assess the scale and quality of forest tea reserves in seven northern Provinces.

b) Assess current tea processing and marketing methods, channels, values and,

c) Determine market demands for current and potential Forest tea products within existing and new international markets.

The study will take a strong private sector development perspective and will engage closely with domestic producers, processors and prospective buyers. Through developing linkages with industry leaders and innovators within the international tea industry, the feasibility and design study will critically assess the potential of Lao’s forest tea reserves and potentially elaborate strategies to support its development.

CARE is now seeking high quality, motivated, and experienced individuals to fill the following positions:

Feasibility Study Manager (Consultant): The manager will have responsibility for day-to-day management of the study in partnership with NAFRI and NAFES.
