District Health Supervisor

Theun-Hinboun Power Co. Ltd (THPC), owner and operator of the Theun-Hinboun power plant located in Khammouane Province, Laos PDR since 1998, is implementing an expansion project. As part of its development and relocation program Theun- Hinboun Expansion Project (THXP) Social and Environment Division(SED) is implementing a Public Health Action Plan (PHAP). The SEDs’ Social Development Unit is seeking to recruit a District Health Supervisor with the following responsibilities:

Main tasks & responsibilities

• Work as part of the Health team to implement the Public Health Action Plan.

• Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with District Health Office (DHO) and Health Centre (HC) staff, with emphasis on improving outreach, health education and clinical practices

• Work with GoL staff and Health Monitoring staff to prepare work-plans and activity schedules

• In cooperation with GoL staff and the Health Team Leader, design and conduct staff in-service training programs.

• Be a resource to health monitoring staff based in the field.

• In collaboration with DHO staff, supervise clinical and field practices.

• Maintain data records on progress in the specified DHO affected villages and prepare written regular progress reports to the SDU Health Team Leader.

Experience & qualifications

• Recognised qualification relevant to implementation of Health or Community Development programmes in Lao PDR. (Public Health experience preferred but not essential)

• At least 6 years experience of project implementation in a rural setting

• Proven ability to work sensitively adapting to the needs of diverse communities

• Experience with designing and conducting training programs in Lao PDR

• Good planning and organisational skills, with ability to supervise field-based activities;

• Proven team player and leadership role in recent positions;

• Effective reporting and communication skills;

• Written and spoken English language ability preferred.

The Employee will be based onsite at the THXP SED office in Khoun Kham Village, Hinboun District in Khammouane Province, with frequent overnight visits required to field sites.
